Bath Open Studios isn't only about the individual trails. We hold group exhibitions in a variety of community spaces around Bath. As well as giving an opportunity for local artists to meet and share work with each other, these exhibitions showcase the work available all year round in all eight Bath Open Studios art trails and open studios. To submit work into these group shows, artists need only to have taken part in one of Bath's art trails and open studios in recent years, even if they're not due to take part in any this year.

'Art at the Heart' Exhibition at the RUH: October 2025 - January 2026
Art at the Heart at the RUH
Our next Bath Open Studios group show will be at the RUH from October 2025 - January 2026 . We have had shows here many times over the years and it often produces a number of sales. Located in the hospital's central main corridor, many, many visitors, patients, and staff pass through and the feedback is always hugely positive with many uplifting stories of how the art has helped in often difficult and sad times.

Exhibition Details and Submission Guidelines
- Artists are invited to submit work if they have taken part in the past few years in one of the eight art trails and open studios in Bath (Bath Artists’ Studios*, Batheaston Art Trail, Bear Flat Artists, Combe Down Art Trail, Larkhall Open Studios, Newbridge Arts Trail, Widcombe Art Trail, 44AD Artspace*). *Note: only artists with studio spaces at BAS and 44AD can apply - the Roper Gallery or the 44AD gallery do not count. Unfortunately, jewellery makers are not included for this particular exhibition as the RUH cannot accommodate it.
- Artwork must not have appeared in any exhibition at the RUH in the past twelve months. A maximum of two artworks per person, even if artists exhibit in different art trails. If a piece sells and is taken away during the exhibition, the artist is permitted to replace it with a similar sized piece, confirmed with BOS and Tony at the RUH.
- 2D artwork of any size and medium is welcome but ideally no bigger than 90cm x 90cm (including frame if applicable). Strictly no clipart-frames. Tony at the RUH advises not to submit box canvases or work that isn't behind glass, though in some instances it may be OK (such as a wooden relief wall piece). D-rings must be attached to the frame - more information on their position will be sent upon acceptance of work.
- 3D pieces are limited to 30cm in depth and height owing to the size of the glass wall cabinet (see image from our previous exhibitions). Any medium is acceptable.
- Fees There is no fee to submit work. If work is selected, the RUH requires a hanging fee of £5 for one piece, £7.50 for two pieces. This is payable for both 2D and 3D work. The RUH also takes a third in sales commission which goes directly to their Art at the Heart campaign, ensuring quality artwork can continue to inspire the walls of the hospital.
- Insurance All artwork is exhibited at the artist's own risk.
- How to Apply: If you'd like to take part, please fill out the submission form or send an email ONCE SUBMISSIONS OPEN to [email protected] stating your name, title of artwork(s), dimensions (including frame if applicable), medium, price, contact email address, 1mb jpeg of artwork(s).

- Delivery of artwork will be confirmed nearer the time, but most likely to the organiser of your usual art trail and by (TBC). The exhibition will be hung on (TBC).
